The Material Realisation of Architectural Utopia: The Change and Development of the Theory of "Social Condenser"

“社会凝结器”是俄国十月革命以来最有启发性的先锋派的重要建筑理念之一。在它形成过程中,包含社会经济、物质基础与建筑乌托邦畅想的紧密联合,以及具体的建筑空间的实现,如公共住宅、工人俱乐部、城市微社区规划等不同尺度的空间尝试。本文旨在通过对“社会凝结器”这一理念进行系统的梳理、广泛的研究及审视,阐述它对西方的广泛影响,揭示其作为21世纪激发建筑思想再创造与实践源泉的本质内涵。

The "social condenser" is one of the most inspiring avant-garde architectural ideas since the Russian October Revolution. In the process of its formation, it includes the close combination of social economy, material foundation and architectural utopia, as well as the realisation of concrete architectural spaces, such as public housing, workers’ clubs, urban micro-community planning and other spatial attempts on different scales. Through a systematic and extensive study, examination and sorting out the idea of the "social condenser", this paper aims to illustrate its extensive influence on the West through the study of the changes and developments of the "social condenser", and to reveal its essential connotation as a stimulus to the re-creation and practice of architectural thought in the 21st century.
