TCM master MEI Guo-qiang's core experience of differentiating and identifying epigastric pain

国医大师梅国强精于临证,擅长治疗脾胃系疾病。文章旨在从理、法、方、药4个方面探讨梅师辨治胃脘痛的经验。认为梅师在病机上重视肝脾对胃脘痛的影响,注重治肝调脾;治法上活用八法,首重清法,以清脾胃之湿热,肝胆之郁热,肺胃之痰热;用方以经方为主,据证与经方、时方、经验方化裁;深谙药性,用药精当,善用活血药止疼痛,巧用祛风药升清阳,喜用芳香药化湿浊,慎用温燥药畅气机。并举验案一则,以为佐证。

MEI Guo-qiang, a master of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), excels at clinical treatments, especially at treating spleen and stomach related illnesses. This article aims to illustrate MEI’s experience of differentiating and identifying epigastric pain from the medical theories, treatment strategies, and application of formulas and medicinals. It’s well-known that master MEI tends to treat liver disorders through regulating spleen, for he values the impact of liver and spleen on epigastric pain in pathogenesis, and to flexibly change the classical, modified and personal formulas based on formulation of the classical formulas. Besides, Professor MEI uses properly medicinals for he is quite familiar with their nature, adeptly those for activating blood to relieve pain, delicately those for dispelling wind to upraise the clear yang, prudently those for warm dryness to unblock the qi dynamic, and preferably the aromatics to resolve dampness. A proved medical record is also listed here as the testimony.
