Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the mainstay tumors clinical therapeutic modalities. While effectively inhibiting tumor growth, the toxic and side effects should not be ignored, including cardiotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, myelosuppression and mucositis, etc.,which severely affect the quality of life of tumor patients.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has the advantage in reducing adverse effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in tumor treatment, which can not only alleviate the toxic and side effects, but also enhance the therapeutic effect. This paper reviews the research progress of TCM-assisted Radiotherapy and chemotherapy in reducing toxicity and efficiency in recent years, and elaborates them from inflammatory reaction, oxidative stress, bone marrow and immune system damages. With TCM-assisted radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which provides reference resources for further TCM-assisted radiotherapy and chemotherapy in reducing toxicity and increasing efficiency.
