Promote High-quality Development of the Work of People’s Congress in the New Era

人民代表大会制度是坚持党的领导、人民当家作主、依法治国有机统一的根本政治制度安排,具有显著优势。我们必须坚持中国共产党领导,深化对人民代表大会制度的功效的认识,深化对全过程人民民主的重大理念的认识。人大及其常委会要推进高质量立法,加强监督工作,依法行使好重大事项决定权,充分发挥人大代表的作用,推动新时代人大工作高质量发展。

The system of people’s congresses, China’s fundamental political system with significant strengths, is the unity between the Party’s leadership, the running of the country by the people, and law-based governance. We must uphold CPC leadership. We should deepen the understanding of the effect of people’s congresses. We should deepen the understanding of the great concept of the whole-process people’s democracy. People’s Congresses and its Standing Committee should promote high-quality legislation, strengthen supervision, properly exercise their power to decide on major matters according to law. We should maximize the role of deputies to the people’s congresses. We will promote high-quality development of the work of people’s congress in the new era, give better play to role of the people’s congress system.
