Objective To observe the relationship between anthropometric parameters and weight in children and adolescents and to obtain the best assessment index for the weight of children and adolescents. Methods A total of 1989 primary and secondary school and kindergarten students aged 3-17 years old from July 2018 to November 2021 in three counties of five districts under the jurisdiction of Zibo City were selected by stratification random cluster sampling method.Anthropometric parameters such as height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, upper arm circumference and calf circumference were measured. Results The single factor correlation analysis showed that weight was positively correlated with age, height, waist circumference, hip circumference, upper arm circumference, calf circumference(r=0.171-0.932,P<0.05),and hip circumference was most closely correlated with weight in children and adolescents(r=0.932,0.847 and 0.895,P<0.01).According to the linear regression analysis, the regression equation was as follows, children weight=1.082×hip circumference(cm)-41.618,adolescent(female)weight=1.250×hip circumference(cm)-55.842,adolescent(male)weight=1.485×hip circumference(cm)-72.205.Conclusion The weight of children and adolescents is closely related to other anthropometric parameters, and the hip circumference is the most ideal indicator for assessing the wei ght of children and adolescents.
