Objective To investigate the effect of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)collapse stains on relief of shoulder pain after stroke. Methods A total of 60 patients with post-stroke shoulder pain were randomly divided into study group(n=30)and control group(n=30).The control group was given routine nursing, comprehensive rehabilitation training and nursing by TCM syndrome differentiation. The study group was given TCM collapse stains method for 2 weeks on the basis of the control group. The Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and modified Barthel Index(mBI)were used to evaluate the patients‘anxiety states, degree of shoulder pain and activity of daily living respectively. The intervention effect of two groups was compared. Results Scores of SAS and VAS in the study group were lower than those in the control group after treatment(P<0.01,respectively).The score of MBI in the study group was higher than that in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).The total effective rate was 96.67%(29/30)in the study group, which was significant higher than 76.67%(23/30)in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The collapse stains,as an external TCM therapy,is potentially effective to relieve the shoulder pain after stroke and improve the recovery of activity of daily living in patients with post-stroke shoulder pain.
