基于MEW的大学生二语动机与投入关系分析

Analyzing the relationship between Chinese university students’ L2 motivation and engagement based on MEW

本研究基于动机与投入轮框架,以134名EFL大学生为样本,采用问卷调查、半结构化访谈等方法分析二语动机与投入关系的共性和个性。结果显示:(1)从共性上看,样本总体的积极动机和投入水平显著高于消极动机和投入,积极动机、消极动机均与积极投入呈显著正相关;(2)从个性上看,样本中存在4类二语动机与投入组合形态。研究结果为优化二语动机与投入关系的教学实践及研究提供了一定启示。

Based on the Motivation and Engagement Wheel, and utilizing a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews, this study samples 134 EFL university students to reveal the similarity and difference of the relationship between L2 motivation and engagement. The findings are as follows:(1) the similarity is that the positive motivation and engagement of the students are higher than negative motivation and engagement, and both positive and negative motivation are significantly positively correlated with positive engagement;(2) the difference is that there exist 4 profiles of motivation and engagement configuration among the students. The study sheds light on teaching practice and research for improving the relationship between L2 motivation and engagement.
