A photovoltaic(PV)cell,or solar cell,is an electronice device that converts the energy of light directly into elec-triceity by the photovoltaic efct.PV cell is composed of semiconductor material.W hen light shines on the semicon-ductor,that light may be reflected,absorbed,or pass right through it.For the absorbed light,its energy is trans-ferred to negatively charged particles in the material called electrons.This extra energy then allows the electrons to flow through the material as an electrical current.This current can be harvested as solar power through conductive metal contacts.
