To understand "physicians’ benevolence" in modern clinical treatment, we need to interpret its original meaning in the modern academic context, reveal its modern significance and practical value. The "physicians’ benevolence" in modern clinical treatment is embodied in the triple dimensions of "caring with heart" "thinking with heart" and "experiencing with heart". The challenges it faces are mainly from the tendency of "materialization" in clinical treatment, the drive of economic interests, excessive instrumental rationality and the information asymmetry between doctors and patients. To cultivate the "physicians’ benevolence" in modern clinical treatment needs medical humanities education, continuing training, incentive system and appropriate climate of public opinion to build the "virtual of great physician" in the new era.
