Beidou Navigation Satellite System(BDS)is a global satellite navigation system independently developed and owned by China. It is an important national space-time infrastructure that provides global users with all-weather, all-time, high-precision positioning, navigation and time service. This paper briefly introduces the general situation, development history and advantages of the BDS, focusing on summarizing the technical applications of BDS in such professional fields as resource survey, geological disaster monitoring, ecological environment, hydrological monitoring, building safety, cultural relics and historic sites, city management, geographic information mapping, survey and construction, and finally introduces the market situation and development prospects of BDS, it provides a reference for better promoting the wide application of BDS.
