《伤寒论》英译本的海外传播现状与启示——基于Amazon和WorldCat的统计与分析

Research Status and Enlightenment of Overseas Dissemination of English Versions of Shang Han Lun——Based on Analysis of Statistics from Amazon and World Cat

《伤寒论》是中医药发展史上具有划时代意义的医学著作,《伤寒论》的英译工作也是中医药文化海外传播的重要内容之一。通过分析《伤寒论》的9个英译本进而梳理英译发展的三个历史阶段及其展现的翻译特点。基于WorldCat全球图书馆藏统计数据和Amazon网站在线书评信息,得知《伤寒论》英译本已有较多海外馆藏且译本整体评价较好,受众的中医认知水平差异较大且阅读目的与对译本内容的需求不同。在此基础上,针对《伤寒论》及中医药文化的海外传播,提出应充分考虑受众需求、按需调整译本内容的编排、积极响应国家政策以及主动寻求国际间合作的建议。

Shang Han Lun is an important work that has a significant influence on the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). And its English versions also play an important role in the overseas dissemination of TCM. The research analyses nine English versions of Shang Han Lun and summarizes translation strategies and principles according to three stages of its translation history. Based on the data from World Cat and book reviews from Amazon online, it has been found that there is a large number of English versions of Shang Han Lun in the libraries abroad that have gained a positive feedback. The degree of the audience’s understanding of TCM varies greatly, and their reading purpose and expectations are different. Furthermore, the research proposes the following ways to improve the international development of Shang Han Lun and TCM culture: fully consider the needs of the audience, adjust the content of the English version according to the audience’s expectation, seek support of national policies, and promote international cooperations.
