摘要
创业团队多样性已经成为创业研究的重要话题,而新创企业惯例更新也已经成为创业领域研究的焦点。在现有研究中,学者们更多关注创业团队多样性对新创企业绩效的影响,对于创业团队多样性对惯例更新的影响并未给予关注,对二者之间的作用机制未做出充分解释。本研究基于信息决策理论,将创业团队多样性分为社会类别多样性、信息多样性和价值观多样性,以国内148个创业团队为样本展开实证研究,探究不同类型的创业团队多样性对新创企业惯例更新的影响,并探究知识共享的中介作用及共享领导在创业团队多样性和知识共享之间的调节作用。研究结果表明:(1)社会类别多样性中的年龄多样性维度、信息多样性和价值观多样性对惯例更新分别具有显著正向影响;(2)知识共享在社会类别多样性中的年龄多样性维度、信息多样性、价值观多样性和惯例更新之间具有中介作用;(3)共享领导在信息多样性、价值观多样性与知识共享之间起显著正向调节作用。研究结论揭示了创业团队多样性和新创企业惯例更新之间的作用机制,对创业团队组建与实践具有重要的启发意义。
Entrepreneurial team diversity has become an important topic in entrepreneurship research,and the routine renewal of new ventures has been the focus of entrepreneurship research.In existing studies,scholars pay more attention to the impact of entrepreneurial team diversity on new venture performance,neglecting its impact on routine renewal.There is a lack of thorough explanation of the mechanism between entrepreneurial team diversity and routine renewal.This study divides the entrepreneurial team diversity into social category diversity,information diversity,and value diversity.Drawing on information decision theory,this study explores the impact of different types of entrepreneurial team diversity on the routine renewal of new ventures,and innovatively studies the mediating role of knowledge sharing and the moderating role of shared leadership in the relations between entrepreneurial team diversity and knowledge sharing.Questionnaire survey method was used to collect data from the entrepreneurial teams of new ventures in Shandong,Jilin,Beijing,Shanghai,Guangdong,and Zhejiang.A total of 148 valid questionnaires were completed by members of entrepreneurial teams.The reliability test showed that the variables were measured with good validity and reliability;the results of Harman’s one-factor test showed that there was no significant common method variance and the relationship between the variables was credible.Finally,the hypotheses were tested by a hierarchical linear regression model.The empirical research shows that age diversity of social category diversity,information diversity,or value diversity have a significant positive effect on routine renewal.Knowledge sharing plays a mediating role between age diversity of social category diversity or information diversity or value diversity and routine renewal.Shared leadership plays a significant positive moderating role between information diversity or value diversity and knowledge sharing.This paper contributes to the existing literature in four aspects.First,this study extends the literature on outcomes of entrepreneurial team diversity by examining the impacts of entrepreneurial team diversity(social category diversity,information diversity,and value diversity)on routine renewal and revealing the underlying mechanism from knowledge sharing.Second,this study offers a deeper un-derstanding of entrepreneurial team diversity and organizational innovation and improves the value of information decision theory by estimating the impacts of different entrepreneurial team diversity on routine renewal(micro-level organizational innovation).Third,this study explores the antecedents of routine renewal in new ventures from the perspective of endogenous change in organizational routines.Last,this study reveals when entrepreneurial team diversity influences routine renewal in new ventures and enriches the empirical research on shared leadership as a moderating variable.The research results offer two practical implications for the formation and management of entrepreneurial teams.First,when creating an entrepreneurial team,entrepreneurs should acknowledge that the configuration of team members directly affects knowledge sharing behaviors and indirectly affects routine renewal in new ventures.Age diversity,information diversity(including education diversity and functional experience diversity),and value diversity can enhance the knowledge sharing ability,willingness,and opportu-nities of the entrepreneurial team to create more new knowledge related to entrepreneurial tasks and promote the renewal of routines.Second,entrepreneurial teams should adopt a shared leadership style.As our results suggest,shared leadership plays a significant positive moderating role between information diversity(including education diversity and functional experience diversity)or value diversity and knowledge sharing,but cannot moderate the association between social category diversity(including age diversity and gender diversity)and knowledge sharing.Thus,entrepreneurial teams need to adopt a shared leadership style in line with the traits of their team and improve the positive effects of entrepreneurial team diversity.
