Confucian studies in Russia after the 1990s

1990年代后,俄罗斯汉学家不仅注重对儒家典籍的翻译,而且对儒学的本质及其蕴含的当代价值进行了深入研究。就儒学本质而言,他们见仁见智,或认为儒学具有宗教功能,或认为儒学是哲学,或认为儒学兼具宗教和哲学两种特质,或认为儒学是伦理—政治学说。尽管对儒学本质的认识不同,但几乎所有的俄学者又都认为儒学对解决当前俄罗斯乃至全世界面临的生态环境、国际关系、人际关系等诸多问题具有强烈的现实意义。这也决定了俄罗斯学者研究儒学的重要目的是试图为俄罗斯的发展探寻一条新途径,为解决全世界所面临的问题提供一种新视角。

Since the 1990s, Russian sinologists have not only paid attention to the translation of Confucian classics, but also conducted in-depth studies on the essence of Confucianism and its contemporary value. In terms of the essence of Confucianism, they have various different opinions. Some think that Confucianism has a religious function, some hold the idea that Confucianism is philosophy, some claim that Confucianism has both religious and philosophical characteristics, and some believe that Confucianism is an ethics-political doctrine. Although their opinions vary in the essence of Confucianism, almost all Russian scholars have concluded that Confucianism has strong practical significance in handling many issues faced by Russia and even the world, such as ecological environment, international relations, interpersonal relations and so on. This also determines that the main purpose of Russian scholars studying Confucianism is to try to explore a new way for the development of Russia and provide a new perspective for solving problems confronted by the world.
