Raphael’s Way of Viewing:Saint Catherine’s “Light of Face”

In the Renaissance, Saint Catherine’s artistic image had a general paradigm, but Raphael did not design this image according to the convention.In his work Saint Catherine of Alexandria, Raphael used a viewing method different from the traditional "contemplation", which is looking up and looking into the distance. That could be his new Platonic interpretation of "light". The article analyzes the portrait and illumination of Saint Catherine through four factors of color,composition, face, and light, and believes that the image of Saint Catherine in the work completes the connection of accepting the light bath and soul meditation by looking up from afar, and Raphael’s "look" is based on the expression of the above ideas.
