Su Shi,a great respected master,likes to record his life in poetry.The fact that he first set foot on the land of Huangzhou and met his old friend Chen Jichang can be seen in the Five Narratives in Qiting and the Biography of Fang Shanzi.However,the record of their meeting in these two documents is quite different.The Five Narratives in Qiting wrote that Chen Jichang met Su Shi“with a white horse and a cyan cover”,while the Biography of Fang Shanzi wrote that two people met by chance.What is the real situation of the two people’s meeting?The existing relevant research is either vague or negligent.Through analysis,it can be confirmed that Chen Jichang was prepared and greeted his frustrated old friend Su Shi at Qiting with grand etiquette.It was Chen Jichang's warm attitude that laid the foundation for the sincere friendship between Su and Chen throughout their lives.
