Research on Betong Overseas Chinese from Chaozhou in Thailand

泰国勿洞华人社会具有一种地理空间上的文化生态。勿洞潮州籍华人的先辈从中国来到泰国后,因各种原因而再度迁移到勿洞。勿洞潮州籍华人早期有许多以种菜或种稻为业,后逐渐扩展到其他行业。勿洞潮州籍华人社团建立较早,并形成了自己的特点。而潮州籍华人在建构当地华人社会的总部“勿洞慈善堂”中扮演着较重要的角色。

Betong overseas Chinese society in Thailand has cultural ecology with geographic space. The ancestors of overseas Chinese from Chaozhou moved from China to Thailand, then transferred to Betong for all kinds of reasons.At the beginning Betong overseas Chinese from Chaozhou made a living on planting vegetables or rice. They expanded to other industries with saving. The association of Betong overseas Chinese from Chaozhou set up early and formed its own characteristics. Overseas Chinese from Chaozhou played particularly important role in constructing the headquarter as Betong Charity House of local overseas Chinese society.
