Due to the impact of the disease on production efficiency, the problem of sows has attracted concern in the industry. There are many factors that cause the foot and limb disease in sows, including environment, nutrition, management, other diseases, genetics and so on. A comprehensive understanding of the causes of the foot and limb disease in sows, and early detection and timely treatment of the disease will reduce the number of sows culled, prolong the life of sows, and improve the production efficiency of the farms. The prevention and treatment of the foot and limb disease should be carried out with integrated efforts from multiple aspects including management, feeding, and disease control. The purpose of this article is to review the impact on, the etiology of, the diagnosis of, and the prevention and treatment of the foot and limb disease in sows, so as to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of the disease.
