在牟平城西南约30华里处,有一个村子叫唐家夼,村南有一座山,海拔225米,本来名不见经传。然而,“山不在高,有仙则名;水不在深,有龙则灵”,自从某年某月某日山里钻出了一匹金马驹和一只金凤凰,因而声名鹊起,被人们唤作“金马山”。这段佳话一传十,十传百,从此一个美丽的神话传说,便在胶东一带流传开来,至今传颂不衰。
About 30 li(15 kilometers) to the southwest of Muping City lies a village named Tangjiakuang. To the south of the village there is a hill. At an altitude of 225 meters, it had been unknown. Nevertheless, “A mountain needs not to be high;it becomes noted when on it immortals dwell. A body of water needs not to be deep;it would be ensouled, if a dragon makes it its resting whereabouts.” Ever since a golden foal and a golden phoenix got out of the hill sometime, it became famous, called as “Golden Foal Hill.” The story went viral more and more widely. From then on a beautiful fairy tale spread in Jiaodong and remained popular to date.
