《四世同堂》浦爱德英译本中老舍语言风格再现

Representation of the Language Style of Sishi Tongtang in Ida Pruitt’s Translation

作为杰出的语言大师,老舍的语言风格值得关注。以老舍创作的长篇小说《四世同堂》的前两部为研究对象,分析了《四世同堂》原文透射出的老舍的语言风格特征,具体运用定量与定性分析相结合的方法,借助语料库手段,辅以自行编写的python程序,结合具体译例,考察了浦爱德作为译者在翻译过程中是否关注、并是否在低层级与高层级上再现了老舍原文的语言之美感。研究发现浦爱德在英译本中采取动态模仿的翻译审美再现艺术手段,将模仿视为一种变通优化手段,而不是一成不变的模式,努力再现老舍的语言艺术。

As an outstanding language master, Lao She’s language style is worth paying attention to. Taking the first two parts of his novel Sishi Tongtang as research texts, this paper uses the methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, with the help of corpus, supplements by self-written python programs, and combines with specific translation examples to focus on Lao She’s language style, and to examine whether Ida Pruitt, as a translator, highlighted and represented Lao She’s original aesthetic feeling at the lower and higher levels in the translation process. It finds out that Pruitt adopts dynamic imitation in her English translation, and regards imitation as a means of adaptation and optimization rather than an invariable mode to represent Lao She’s language style.
