Dimensions of Conversion: Conversion of “Stone” Culture in Sculpture

“石”承载着中华民族的精神,灌注着中国传统审美意识,呼唤着雕塑创作追根溯源、取法天地的文化自觉。本文梳理了“石”的审美特点及其与雕塑造型的联系,并结合创作案例,呈现掇石构势、循石造型、石之转化的研究过程。从石头的美学通感、造型方法、材料质性、文化观念等方面来进行雕塑转化的多维拓展。

Stone carries the spirit of the Chinese nation, is infused with traditional Chinese aesthetics, and calls for the cultural awareness of sculpture creation that features tracing the origin and imitating the nature. This paper sorts out the aesthetic characteristics of “stone” and its connection with sculpture modeling, and presents the research process of stone composition, modeling and conversion by analyzing cases. Sculpture conversion is expanded in a multi-dimensional way from the aspects of aesthetic feelings, modeling methods, material properties and cultural concepts of stone.
