Linguistic infiltration from Mandarin to Hui dialect:On the superposition and complementary semantic distribution of synonymous functional words

徽语中存在近义虚词叠加和语义分工现象。这些现象与语言接触密切相关,是来自不同系统的同义或近义的虚词并存于一个系统中竞争并处于相持阶段出现的结果。这些不同来源的虚词在徽语内部的使用情况呈现一定程度的南北差异,显示出官话对徽语的渗透具有渐进性,反映了语言接触条件下方言语法演化的过程和走向。

In Hui dialect,synonymous functional words may co-occur next to each other with complementary semantic distribution.This is closely related to the language contact with Mandarin and presents the co-existence of synonymous or similar functional words from different sources.MMoreover,geographic variationsonthe employment of these functional words are also inspected.Different usages of synonymous functional words in northern and southern Hui dialects suggest a gradual degree of language infiltration from Mandarin into Hui dialect.It implicates the gradual progress of grammatical change in dialects.
