《人体艺术家》中人的生存困境探析

An Analysis of Human’s Predicament in The Body Artist

《人体艺术家》不仅是一部以爱、死亡和丧失为主题的小说,还表达了唐·德里罗对现代人主体性困境的担忧。目前国内外学界普遍认为雷的死亡、塔特尔的出现打开了劳伦自我封闭的入口,帮助劳伦完成自我的重构,因而雷、塔特尔的存在具有强烈的伦理意义。实则不然,通过分析《人体艺术家》中空洞、流浪、空白的人的生存困境,发现劳伦与雷、塔特尔和房东的情感历程是她暂时摆脱孤独的方式,这是她以放弃独立本体的存在为代价的。并进一步指出造成这一困境的根源是自我感的丧失等社会历史和文化心理的原因。

The Body Artist is not only a novel about love,death and loss,it also expresses Don DeLillo’s concerns about the predicament of modern human subjectivity.At present,the academic circles at home and abroad generally believe that Ray’s death and the appearance of Tuttle have opened the entrance of Lauren’s self-isolation and helped Lauren complete the reconstruction of herself.Therefore,the existence of Ray and Tuttle has strong ethical significance.In fact,it is not.By analyzing the living plight of the empty,wandering and blank people in The Body Artis,it is found that Lauren’s emotional journey with Ray,Tuttle and the landlord is her way to temporarily get rid of loneliness,which is at the cost of giving up the existence of independent noumenon.And further it pointed out that the root cause of this predicament is the loss of self-sense of social history and cultural psychology.
