《印度:受伤的文明》两译本风格的多维对比分析

A Corpus-based Multi-dimensional Analysis on Two Chinese Translations’ Styles of India: A Wounded Civilization

本文自建《印度:受伤的文明》英汉平行语料库,采用多维分析法对杜译本和宋译本的不同风格进行了对比研究。结果表明,两译本在句法显化、行文结构和信息承载3个维度存在较明显的差异。两译本的风格差异主要受译者身份背景、译本出版顺序、出版市场等主客观因素影响。多维分析法能更有效地揭示两译本的风格差异,对于译本风格的对比考察具有重要意义。

Based on the English-Chinese parallel corpus of the English book India: A Wounded Civilization,this paper makes a Multi-dimensional Analysis on the styles of two Chinese translations by Du Mo and Song Nianshen respectively. The two Chinese translations are found to be different from each other in 3 dimensions,namely,the situation of the syntactic explicitation, the situation of the whole structure, and the situation of the conveyed information. The reason behind the differences can be traced to the translators’ social backgrounds,the translations’ publication dates as well as the publication markets. Multi-dimensional Analysis can help to reveal the differences of the two translations’ styles from a macroscopic perspective, which is of great significance to the comparative description of translations’ styles.
