职业译员英汉同传译文停顿频次特征:一项基于语料库的研究

A Corpus-based Study of Pause Frequency Characteristics in the Professional Interpreters’English-Chinese Simultaneously Interpreted Text

停顿作为口译产品中重要的副语言表现形式,对于口译研究具有特殊意义。本研究将收集的12名职业译员的12组现场英汉同传语料建成口译语料库,并以此为基础对译文中的停顿频次特征进行描写和分析。研究发现:职业译员英汉同传译文中的静默停顿、有声停顿和总停顿频率3个变量的聚合度和离散度比较接近,离散度普遍较高;译员的口译风格是静默停顿频率高离散度的主要原因,而有声停顿频率的高离散度与原文发言形式和译员口译风格都有重要关系;男性译员译文的静默停顿和有声停顿频率都高于女性译员;职业译员展现出对译文流畅度的控制能力。

As one of the important paralinguistic features in interpreting,pause has significant meaning for interpreting studies.This research builds a corpus with English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation by 12 professional interpreters,based on which the pause frequency characteristics are studied of the interpreted text.It is found that the frequencies of silent pause,filled pause as well as total pause in simultaneous interpretation show similar converging and diverging trend with the universal relative high divergence.Interpreting style is the main reason for the high divergence in filled pause frequency while that of silent pause frequency is also attributable to source speech style.The male interpreter has higher frequency than female interpreter in both silent and filled pause.Professional interpreters show abilities in controlling fluency of interpreting output.
