Before and After Death of the Hero——A Study on Newly Unearthed Li Junxian’s Epitaph in the Wu Zhou Period

洛阳新出土的《武周李君羡墓志》以其家人的视角记载了这位唐初猛将的家世、仕宦以及武周时期平反安葬的情况。结合传世文献的记载,可以更全面地勾画其历史形象。通过对墓志内容的分析,还能够深入透视李君羡之死的隐情。而墓志并无李君羡与武周政权关联的记载,以此可以厘清李君羡之死与武则天执政谶言之间的谜团。参照墓志以及传世文献记载的不同视角,不难发现李君羡之死本来仅仅是一个政治事件,但由于武周对唐国史的改造,导致其历史形象被重塑。这也拨开了受权力裹挟的传世文本的迷雾,给我们揭示了隐藏在特定时期历史书写背后的真相。

Newly unearthed Li Junxian’s Epitaph of the Wu Zhou period in Luoyang recorded his family history,official experience in the Tang Dynasty and restored reputation in the Wu Zhou period. It portrayed the real image of the general with historical documentation. Through analysis of the epitaph, we know some details of Li Junxan’s death. The Epitaph showed that there was no relation between his death and the Empress Wu Zetian. According to the Epitaph, the Tang history reformed by the Wu Zhou period gave a distorted picture of Li Junxian’s death. Li Junxian became the hero of revealing the destiny of Empress Wu Zetian. His image had been reshaped because of political reasons in the reign of Empress Wu Zetian.
