The Influence of College Students’ Social Distance on Moral Judgment

目的 探究社会距离对大学生道德判断的影响。方法 采用方便取样法,2021年9月选取广东省某高校的83名大学生为研究对象,按随机数字表法分为近社会距离组(n=43)和远社会距离组(n=40)。两组大学生分别完成近、远社会距离的道德判断材料(5个道德困境故事)并进行道德判断评分,分析大学生道德判断的影响因素。结果 重复测量方差分析结果显示,道德困境故事的主效应显著(P<0.001),道德困境故事2、3的评分低于道德困境故事1、4、5;独立样本t检验结果显示,远社会距离组道德判断评分高于近社会距离组(P<0.05)。两因素方差分析结果显示,男大学生的道德判断评分高于女大学生(P<0.05)。结论 社会距离影响大学生道德判断,在近社会距离时大学生有更多道义主义判断倾向,在远社会距离时有更多功利主义判断倾向。

Objective To explore the influence of college students’ social distance on their moral judgment.Methods In September 2021,a total of 83 college students in a university in Guangdong Province were selected as research objects by convenient sampling method. They were randomly divided into near social distance group(n=43) and far social distance group(n=40). The two groups of college students finished reading moral judgment materials of near and far social distance(5 stories about moral dilemmas) respectively and made moral judgments. The influencing factors of moral judgment of the two groups of college students were compared. Results The results of repeated measurement variance analysis showed that the main effect of moral dilemma stories was significant(P<0.001),and the scores of moral dilemma stories 2 and 3 are lower than those of moral dilemma stories 1,4 and 5. The results of independent sample t-test showed that the scores of moral judgment of college students in the far social distance group were higher than those in the near social distance group(P< 0.05). The results of two-factor variance analysis showed that the moral judgment scores of male college students was higher than those of female college students(P<0.05). Conclusion Social distance affects the moral judgment of college students. College students are more likely to make moral judgments when they are in near social distance,and are more likely to make utilitarian judgments when they are in far social distance.
