Ushering in a new model of mixed-use development,this masterplan for China’s new“Wall Street”established a lush and walkable corridor in the capital city’s historic center in time for the 2008 Summer Olympics.Located in the city’s historic center,the vibrant district contains a diverse mix of commercial and residential buildings along with ample public space.SOM’s master plan capitalized on the city’s tremendous economic energy and addressed the resulting challenges of improving transportation and air quality.
