汉语主语类型对汉英视译难度影响的眼动研究

The Impact of Chinese Subject Types on Difficulty of Chinese-English Sight Translation:An Eye-movement Study

本研究旨在验证名词性汉语主语类型对汉英视译难度产生的影响。研究采用眼动追踪的方法,测试30名中国英语学习者在汉英视译过程中的眼动指标并进行分析。实验结果表明:1)组合主语难于单一主语;2)施事主语+受事主语难于受事主语+施事主语;3)时间、地点、与事主语难于施事主语、受事主语。本研究表明汉语主语的不同类型在汉英视译过程中具有不同的难度,这与不同类型主语在汉英转换中认知加工的过程有关。

The aim of this study was to explore the impact of nominal subjects of Chinese sentences during Chinese-English sight translation.The study used an eye tracking method to collect the eye movement indicators of 30 Chinese English learners while they were required to finish sight translation tasks.The results showed that:1)sight translation of sentences with a compound subject was more difficult than that with single subject;2)sight translation of sentences with an agentive subject+patient subject was more difficult than that with a patient subject+agentive subject;3)sight translation of sentences with a temporal subject,a locative subject,or a recipient subject was more difficult than that with agentive subject or patient subject.This study shows that different types of Chinese subjects have different levels of difficulty in Chinese-English sight translation,which arises from the differences in the cognitive processing of the subjects during Chinese-English conversion.
