The Inevitability of Tectonics behind the Ideal Villa and Other Corollaries

基于维特科尔的分类总结帕拉迪奥作品中的建构原则、基于多米诺体系总结勒·柯布西耶的建构原则,并结合加歇别墅、光明公寓、萨伏伊别墅3个具体案例考察两套建构原则在作品中的具体表现,从而得出建构层面的相似性。最终将这种相似性归因于二人对某些建造原则的主观坚持,从而接受其对设计的客观限制,即建造必然性。另外,分析过程中所涉及的史实也可推导出当下改进多米诺体系的可能,以及现代主义作品中的地域性因素。

Based on the tectonic rules as demonstrated both in Rudolf Wittkower’s classification and summarization of of Paladio’s villa projects and in Le Cobusier’s Domino System,this paper tries to investigate the tectonic simila rity of the two projects,by examining the substantial representation of the two sets of tectonic rules in three cases:Villa Stein,Immeuble Clartéand Villa Savoye.This paper attributes such similarity to both architects’adherence to construction rules so that they accepted certain constraints in design,i.e.tectonic inevitability.Furthermore,the historical facts mentioned also reveal the possibilities of enhancing the Domino System and the contextual elements of the ea rly modernist buildings.
