Because there is only the inscription of two characters “Yan Sou” on the Ink Blossoming Plums, the painter of this Song painting has been regarded as “Wang Yansou”, “Song Boren” or “He Menggui”. Based on the connoisseur’s and collector’s seals and postscript, it can be inferred that there is no corresponding relationship between the main part painting and the postscript on the towed-at-the-end paper, the postscript should be cut from somewhere and mounted here. Through analyzing the extant opinions and sorting out the related literature, it can be concluded that the name “Yan Sou” signed on the Ink Blossoming Plums refers to the Southern Song scholar Fu Yansou.Fu Yansou retreated to Yanshan, Xinzhou in his later years and built hall to settle there, growing and singing the praises of the plums. He also got along with Xin Qiji and Chen Wenwei who also retired to Yanshan at the same period and regularly gathered with the literati in Shangrao to write back and forth poems.
