基于小型语料库的中医舌诊术语英译辨析

Small Corpus-based Study on Standardization of English Translation of Tongue Diagnosis Terms in Chinese Medieine

本研究选取《中医药常用名词术语英译》中舌诊部分65个舌诊术语,配合目前具有较高权威性的三部英汉互译的中医药学名词术语标准,建立了小型语料库进行对照。将三个标准中的舌诊术语英译分为完全一致、基本一致、部分一致、完全不一致4类。笔者在充分理解的基础上,以李照国教授提出的翻译原则以及中医药学名词英译的对应性、系统性、同一性、回译性、简洁性、约定俗成的6条原则为前提,对这4类术语进行分析后发现,部分一致及完全不一致两类占大多数,且翻译上差别较大,有一词多译、多词一译等特点,对中医术语英译的优化发展有一定借鉴意义。

This paper studies 65 tongue diagnostic terms selected from English Translation of Common Terms in Traditional Chinese Medicine and establishes a small corpus for comparison with three authoritative English-Chinese translation standards of terms of traditional Chinese medicine.The authors divided the tongue diagnostic terms into 4categories:The terminology translation is completely the same;the terminology translation is basically the same;the terminology translation is of partial consistency and the terminology translation is completely different.So,on the basis of full understanding,and based on the translation principles proposed by Professor LI Zhaoguo and the six principles of correspondence,systematicness,identity,retranslation,brevity and convention in the English translation of TCM terms,it is found that the latter two account for the majority and there are great differences in translation,and they have characteristics like multi-translation for one word and one translation for multiple words,which may be used as a reference for the optimization and development of English translation of TCM terms.
