《新唐书·吴元济传》采录韩愈《平淮西碑》考论

Textual Research on Wu Yuanji Biography in the New History Book of the Tang Dynasty Collected Pinghuaixi Monument of Han Yu

韩愈《平淮西碑》为宪宗时期所作,因过于赞颂裴度之功而被斥为“碑辞不实”,由此引发诸多论辩。两《唐书》编修者对《平淮西碑》所持的不同态度,导致两部唐史对这一文本的采录出现差异。《旧唐书》以记载事件为主,《新唐书》则在吴元济传记中全文采录《平淮西碑》,对韩氏的评价带有明显倾向性。两《唐书》对《平淮西碑》采录的差异,不但反映了时代环境、史家价值判断、情感倾向对史书编修者的影响,而且展现了中唐至北宋时期史家思想观念的嬗变。

Han Yu’s Pinghuaixi Monument,written during the reign of Emperor Xianzong,was criticized as "untrue" because of its praise of Pei Du,which caused many debates.The two editors of the Book of Tang held different attitudes towards this matter,and the recording of Han Yu s Pinghuaixi Monument was also different.The Old History Book of the Tang Dynasty mainly records relevant events,while the New History Book of the Tang Dynasty is quite different from it.The New History Book of the Tang Dynasty not only collects the Pinghuaixi Monument in full text in Wu Yuanji’s biography,but also has obvious emotional tendency to evaluate Han.By comparing the differences between the two "Tang Books" in the recording of Han Yu’s Pinghuaixi Monument,we can see the influence of the time environment,the value judgment and emotional tendency of historians on the editing of historical books,and at the same time,we can investigate the ideological evolution process of historians from the Mid-Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty.
