晚清民国时期东吴大学历史学科发展历程探析

The Development of the History Study of Soochow University in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China

通过梳理晚清民国时期东吴大学近五十年的办学历史、特定的时代背景和历史学科的发展历程,探析东吴大学历史学科缘起于“三大书院”并立时期,发展于20世纪20年代“非基督教运动”和“收回教育权”运动后,衰落于抗日战争和第三次国内革命战争时期。在此期间,东吴大学历史学科在中国大学教育的历史进程中,逐渐走向专业化、中国化和世俗化。研究丰富了相关在华教会学校历史的研究内容,并从微观角度展现了以东吴大学为代表的教会学校历史教育的整体发展面貌。为当前高校历史学教育的课程设置、教学内容和教学方法等方面提供历史借鉴和现实参考,并在此基础上,提升了新史学的国际化水平,发挥了新史学有用于世的致用思想,弘扬了中华民族的独立精神。

By analyzing the history of Soochow University in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the author concludes that the history study of Soochow University originated from the coexistence of three academies, developed after the movement of non-Christian movement and the movement of “taking back the right to education” in the 1920s, and declined in the period of Anti-Japanese War and the third domestic revolutionary war. During this period, the history study of Soochow University gradually became specialized, sinicized and secularized in the historical process of Chinese university education. This study enriches the research contents of the history of missionary schools in China, and shows the overall development of history education in missionary schools represented by Soochow University from a micro-perspective. This provides historical and practical reference for the curriculum design, teaching contents and teaching methods of history education in colleges and universities. On this basis, it improves the international level of new historiography, gives play to the practical thought of new historiography, and promotes the independent spirit of the Chinese nation.
