摘要
近现代通俗文学期刊从“名妓照”开启了一场女性图像“观看”与“被看”的视觉消费景观。在读图狂欢中,名妓从“青楼女子”转变为“公众女性”;重回历史现场,可以发现名妓从传统的“娱人者”转变为现代时尚的“引领者”;而通俗文学作家也在传统文人到职业作家的身份转变中完成了现代转型。鸳鸯蝴蝶派的繁荣很大程度上是因为通俗文学作家能够在传统与现代的纠缠中寻找出路,将诸如名妓一类的符号与上海现代化的商品性完美地结合起来,从而实现通俗文学的现代发展。名妓照构建了女性图像的公共阅读场域,为中国社会的现代性女性形象视觉建构开了一个头。
Starting from “photos of famous prostitutes”, modern popular literature periodicals created a visual consumption landscape of female image “watching” and “being watched”. In the carnival of picture reading, famous prostitutes changed from “brothel women” to “public women”. Retrieving the historical scene, we can find that famous prostitutes changed from traditional “entertainers” to modern fashion “leaders”, while the popular literature writers also completed the modern transformation in the change from traditional literati to professional writers. The popularity of the Mandarin Duck and Butterfly School during that period was largely due to the fact that popular literature writers were able to find a way out of the entanglement between tradition and modernity, to transform in time the main theme of elite culture into mass consumption, and to combine perfectly signs such as famous prostitutes with the modern commerciality of Shanghai, so as to realize the modern development of popular literature. The famous prostitute photos aroused attention, and constructed the modernity of female images from a public reading perspective, which started the visual construction of modern female images in the Chinese society.
