Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMO) patients are prone to brittle fracture due to decreased estrogen secretion, which leads to decreased bone mass, destruction of bone microstructure, decreased bone strength and increased fragility, and seriously affects the quality of life and health of patients. It can greatly improve the quality of life of patients to clarify the mechanism of PMO and carry out effective targeted prevention and treatment. The occurrence of PMO is not only affected by estrogen, but also closely related to oxidative stress, estrogen receptor, mechanical stimulation and the expression of Piezo1 gene in osteoblasts. This paper reviews the above elements, aiming to further improve the understanding of the mechanism of PMO.
