明初鸿儒龚敩通经博学,传世作品《鹅湖集》六卷是其一生思想和学识的重要体现,文史价值不可忽略。他的诗歌继往开来,与陶渊明、杜甫二人渊源深厚,洋溢着浓郁的文学情采。散文更可作为研究明代政治时况的史料佐证,尤其是他对江西省上饶市民俗风情、地方实事的记载具有重要的史学意义,总体来说能在一定程度上填补国史之失和方志之缺。

Gong Xiao,a great scholar of the early Ming Dynasty,was well versed in scripture and erudition,and his six volumes of The Goose Lake Collection are an important reflection of his life’s thought and learning,and their literary and historical value cannot be ignored.His poetry,which follows on from the past and has a deep connection with Tao Yuanming and Du Fu,is full of literary sentiment.His prose can be used as historical evidence for the study of the political situation of the Ming Dynasty,especially his records of folk customs and local facts in Shangrao,Jiangxi,which are of great historical significance and can,on the whole,fill in to a certain extent the gaps in the national history and the lack of local records.
