樊深为北朝著名经学家,其出身于河东樊氏家族。北魏孝武帝西迁的过程中,樊深家族为护卫孝武帝安危作出了巨大牺牲与贡献。宇文泰平定河东地区后,樊深因为家族因素受到器重。樊深博通经史,先后被宇文泰任命为博士、太学助教,为诸将子弟讲授儒家经典,并赐姓万纽于氏。除了传授儒家经义外,樊深还著有《七经义纲略论》等。樊深的生平仕历及其对儒家经典的研究是当时鲜、汉民族融合背景下关陇地区汉族士人生存现状的缩影。其积极参与北朝政权建设,对推动北朝统治者的汉化进程发挥了重要作用。

Fan Shen was a famous Confucian scholar in the Northern Dynasty. He was born in the fan family in Hedong.During the westward movement of emperor Xiaowu of the Northern Wei Dynasty,the Fanshen family made great sacrifices and contributions to protect the safety of emperor Xiaowu. After Yu Wentai calmed Hedong area,Fan Shen was valued because of family factors. Fan Shen,who has a broad knowledge of classics and history,has been appointed by Yu Wentai as a doctor and a teaching assistant of the Imperial College. He taught Confucian classics to the children of various generals and was given the surname Wan niuyu. In addition to imparting Confucian classics,Fan Shen also wrote A Outline of the Seven Classics. Fan Shen’s life history and his study of Confucian classics are the epitome of the living situation of Han scholars in Guanlong area under the background of the integration of Xian and Han ethnic groups at that time. He actively participated in the regime construction of the Northern Dynasty and played an important role in promoting the Sinicization process of the rulers of the Northern Dynasty.
