Although Bob Dylan has been well-known in Europe and the US since the 1960s,there were only been intermittent translations of him into Chinese in the early 1980s.Only after Dylan was rewarded the Nobel Prize in Literature as a poet and singer in 2016 did Dylan’s translations and reception in China come to be more diversified and prosperous. This paper aims to examine the translation history of Dylan in China over the past 50 years.A chronological elaboration of Dylan’s introduction, translation and reception in China offers a better understanding of how the literary and artistic policies of a particular era influenced the acceptance and development of foreign literature and art in China.Such an approach is expected to shed light on the social and cultural causes of Dylan’s introduction, translation, and reception’s evolution in China.
