There's plenty going on in French Concession.At its best,its good fun in a well-dniwn concession-era Shanghai that offers a snapshot of a time and place.Unfortunately;the plot gets muddled.It's a pity because award-winning author Xiao Bai has some success in adding depth to our understanding of the era.
