Uniforms are a pervasive part of many societies.For centuries they have colored battlefields,distinguished authority figures from the masses,and lent an unspoken sense of formality to events and individuals.They signify belonging to a certain group and can have both positive and negative com notations.Soldiers are typically viewed as heroic;prisoners are feared and police officers regarded as somewhere in the middle,depending on the observer.
