Denying imperial power and longing for external salvation from“future saints”are the pioneering core characteristics of Zhong Changtong’s thought of criticizing imperial power,which determine his unique position in the ideological history of the late Han Dynasty.Zhong Changtong was very likely to come into contact with and be influenced by the Buddhist idea of equality,and he connected this idea with the feudal system of the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Confucianism of the pre-Qin Dynasty,and then boldly denied the imperial autocracy of the Qin and Han dynasties.
