Blessed with picturesque mountains,gorgeous lakes and subtropical weather,Dali has been one of China's most popular destinations for centuries.Located in Northwest Yunnan,Dali is steeped in thousands of years of local Bai culture-one of China's 56 officially recognized ethnic groups.It was the capital of the medieval Kingdom of Dali,which ruled the area around the Erhai Lake valley from 937 to 1253 CE,when it was conquered by the Mongols.
