中西互鉴的审美研究:《英国形式主义美学及其文学创作实践研究》介评

An Aesthetic Study from Chinese-Western Perspective:A Review of British Formalist Aesthetics and Its Literary Writing Practice

英国形式主义美学是20世纪初兴起并盛行于英国的美学思潮,其创立者罗杰·弗莱和克莱夫·贝尔以全新的美学理论促成了欧洲审美趣味的剧变,催生了欧美现代主义文学并推进了其发展。高奋教授的专著《英国形式主义美学及其文学创作实践研究》不仅阐明了英国形式主义美学对西方传统美学的继承性和创新性,而且系统揭示了其内涵和价值。从总体上看,该专著具有以下三方面的价值:一是从中西双重审美视域切入,阐明了弗莱、贝尔、弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫和利顿·斯特拉奇的美学思想及伍尔夫和斯特拉奇的文学创作实践的渊源、内涵、特性和价值,拓宽了外国文论与文学研究的视野;二是从中国学者的视角切入,实践了以中国诗学观照外国文论与文学的批评模式,探索了有中国特色的外国文学研究新路径;三是融文艺理论与文艺批评为一体,促进了我们对实践美学及审美批评之价值的深度认识。

British formalist aesthetics is an aesthetic trend flourishing in Britain in the early 20th century.Its founders, Roger Fry and Clive Bell, promoted the upheaval of European aesthetic taste and the development of European and American modernist literature with their new aesthetic theories. Professor Gao Fen’s monograph British Formalist Aesthetics and Its Literary Writing Practice not only clarifies its inheritance to western traditional aesthetics, through which the British formalist aesthetics broke, but also systematically reveals its connotation and value. The monograph is valued in the following three aspects: Firstly, it adopts the method of Chinese-Western aesthetic perspective to clarify the origin, connotation, characteristics and values of the aesthetic thoughts of Fry, Bell, Virginia Woolf and Lytton Strachey, and the literary writing practice of Woolf and Strachey, so as to broaden the research horizon of foreign literary theory and literature.Secondly, it starts from the perspective of Chinese scholars, practicing the critical mode of observing foreign literary theory and literature with Chinese poetics, and explores a new path of foreign literature research with Chinese characteristics. Finally, it integrates literary theory and literary criticism, and promotes our deep understanding of practical aesthetics and the value of aesthetic criticism.
