Sculptor Wu Weishan(left)unveils his creation—a statue of the Chinese soldier and model citizen Lei Feng,on March 1 in downtown Beijing.Wu,also President of the National Art Museum of China,created the bronze statue in 2012.The ceremony marked the 60th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong’s call on all Chinese citizens to learn from Lei.Ever since,March 5 has been designated as Lei Feng Day.Chinese President Xi Jinping,too,has stressed the importance of carrying forward Lei’s Good Samaritan spirit on multiple occasions.
