The Yan’an period was a period of great awakening of Chinese national consciousness, a period of ideological and political maturity of the Chinese Communist Party, a period of revolutionary identity transformation, and a transitional period in the development of the Chinese nation from a spontaneous academic concept to a consciously constructed nation-state entity. The practice of Marxist national theory during the Yan’an period of the CPC constructed the prototype of Chinese national theory and shaped the framework of Chinese national policy paths and theoretical models. This article traces the origins, and comprehensively and systematically grasps the two-way interaction and the pulse of the times between the theoretical construction of the Chinese nation during the Yan’an period of the CPC and the identification process of the Chinese nation. It also explores the theoretical build and policy path of promoting the construction of Chinese nation under the political environment and social ecology of the Yan’an period.
