摘要
《资治通鉴》英译活动肇始于20世纪30、40年代,迄今为止,相关英译节译本已近10种。其中,以美国华裔学者方志彤和澳大利亚史学家张磊夫译本的学术影响力及接受度最甚。方志彤以原始资料研究“Quellenforschung”为目的,附注详考原作文献来源;张磊夫以启牖读者为目的,傍释详解原作历史事件之本因。鉴于两位译者在身份上具有显著特质,进而诉诸译者身份视阈,探讨译者个人身份对翻译过程的影响,为微观文字层面的翻译现象,寻求中观译者因素层面的释疑。
The English translation of Zizhi Tongjian commenced in 1930s to 1940s.Insofar,there have been nearly 10 relevant English translations,among which translations by the Chinese American scholar Achilles Fang and the Australian historian Rafe de Crespigny enjoy the highest academic influence and widest acceptance.In Fang’s version,he annotated plenty and traced every reference of the original in order to present a “Quellenforschung” to the western academic fields.In de Crespigny’s version,he also attached numerous annotations but aimed to explain the reasons of historical events to enlighten readers.In view of their distinctive identity,this study tries to explore how each translator’s identity influence the translation process,and seeks to explain the possible reasons for the differences in their versions from the perspective of translator.
