Methods for Senior High School Students to Expand Their English Vocabulary under the New Curriculum Standard

新的课程标准对英语词汇的教与学提出了较高的要求,不仅要求学生应掌握更多的词汇量,而且还特别要求教师在词汇教学中重视学生的心理状态、学习方式,培养学生的文化素养。新课程标准明确指出,如果脱离语言环境,让学生死记硬背英语单词,是一种很失败的语言教学方式。因此,教师要遵循新的课程标准和教学大纲,根据学生的学习需求,不断优化词汇教学方式,使用多种策略开展单词教学,注重对学生单词学习方法的培养,指导学生学会自主学习和终身学习。

The New Curriculum Standard puts forward higher requirements for the teaching and learning of Eng⁃lish vocabulary.It not only requires students to master a large vocabulary,but also requires teachers to pay atten⁃tion to students’psychological state,learning style and cultural literacy in vocabulary teaching.The New Curricu⁃lum Standard clearly points out that it is a failure of language teaching to ask students to memorize English words without the language environment.Therefore,following the principles of the New Curriculum Standard and Sylla⁃bus,teachers should,according to the needs of students,constantly optimize vocabulary teaching methods,use a variety of strategies to carry out word teaching,pay attention to the cultivation of students’methods of learning words,and guide students to learn independent learning and lifelong learning.
