With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, 5G, Internet of things(IoT) and other information technologies, the traditional petrochemical industry is experiencing great changes in informatization and intelligence. This paper expounds the necessity of intellectualization in petrochemical industry, investigating the development and application status of intelligent technology in petrochemical industry in recent years, points out the shortcomings faced by intelligent technology in the application of petrochemical industry and looks forward to its future development trend.
