The People First and A New Frontier in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times

坚持人民至上是习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的世界观和方法论的集中体现和高度概括,是马克思主义基本原理同中国具体实际相结合、同中华优秀传统文化相结合的价值导向和路径规定。坚持人民至上的立场观点方法推进马克思主义中国化时代化,是由马克思主义的人民性这一本质属性决定的。在开辟马克思主义中国化时代化新境界的新时代实践中,必须尊重人民群众的历史主体地位,深刻认识“两个确立”的决定性意义,努力创造为人民所喜爱、所认同、所拥有的科学理论。

Putting the people first encapsulates the world outlook and methodology of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as the values and propositions of integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and fine traditional culture. We must put the people first to adapt Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, which is determined by people-centeredness, an essential attribute of Marxism. In the practice for a New Era, we must reinforce the principal role of the people in history, be keenly aware of the decisive significance of “Two Establishes”, and develop scientific theories that are liked, accepted, and adopted by the people.
