Ivermectin 1% cream is a novel topical agent, which has been recommended to treat papulopustular rosacea in the guidelines of the United States, China and other countries.Ivermectin is a macrocyclic lactone derivative of the avermectin family, and displays both anti-inflammatory properties and broad-spectrum anti-parasitic activity.Compared with metronidazole 0.75% cream and azelaic acid 15% gel, ivermectin 1% cream has advantages in treating papulopustular rosacea for short term and long-term. Ivermectin 1% cream is a relatively safe drug.Most of the adverse reactions are mild to moderate, including skin itching, dryness and burning.Therefore, ivermectin 1% cream is a relatively tolerable, effective and safe topical drug for the treatment of papulopustular rosacea.
